It is outlined as one of the Mexican exchequers, a real Garden of Eden full of captivations. Between March 1 and 4, 1517, the Spanish expedition commanded by Francisco Hernández of Cordova discovers the island, finding a sanctuary with the figure of the Goddess Ixchel and her feminine retinue, for what it names her Isla Mujeres, name with which he is known up to the current importance. In this epoch Isla Mujeres was not a human accession, but a sanctuary dedicated to the Goddess Ixchel (deity of the fabric, the happiness, of the moon, of the abundance and of the medicine, between other virtues). |
